Kayla Maries’s mother wanted to experience a
place they hadn’t visited in quite some time. Therefore, they decided to plan a
trip during the summer before her senior year of college. Kayla Marie went on a
road trip to Pigeon Forge, Tennessee with her mom, dad and grandma for seven
days. Her trip took approximately 4 and a half hours. Considering she struggles
with motion sickness, the winding roads made the trip with her family quite a
bit difficult. Once they arrived in the state, they made a familiar stop at the
Apple Barn, a restaurant they had come to love during past trips.
On Sunday, they just enjoyed the day of rest as a
family in the 2 bedroom cabin. The first adventure of the trip was an excursion
through Cade’s cove, a drive through national park in the Great Smoky
Mountains. They experienced a bear, and many deer frolicking around.
One day for lunch, the family went to the Mellow
Mushroom which is a pizzeria that started in Atlanta, Ga and now holds over 120
locations nationwide. Midweek, Kayla Marie and her family went to Bass Pro
Shops, which is an all time family favorite.
The highlight of the week was the friendly raccoon
that was a frequent visitor. It would usually come to the cabin at night and
visited about five times. One evening it even came and tried to carry away
their large trash can! During their free time, Kayla Marie and her family
visited multiple antique shops in the rain.
This was a great experience for Kayla Marie and
her family, because this was the last time that they went away for vacation
before she graduates. They had not spent the time away from their busy lives in
over three years. It was a wonderful opportunity to reconnect.
